Patrick Arthur Haslam made it to his heavenly home on Friday, Aug 30, 2024.We are certain he was greeted by our Lord and Saviour along with his dad and mom, Gordon & Jeanne Haslam, his sister Diane Devlin, his brother, Brice Haslam, his niece, Linda Devlin, and his own child he didn't get to meet while here on earth. Patrick was so much fun, loving & compassionate, kind, honorable, forgiving & humble, and full of joy throughout his life, always bringing hope and encouragement wherever he went to all who knew him. A precious soul and unique treasure from heaven. He loved our Lord Jesus and was devout in reading His word and more importantly, living it out by example. Patrick spent his young adult days studying dance and theater while in Portland, Oregon, where he was born and raised with his three sisters, and one brother. Shortly after becoming a follower of Christ, he moved from Portland to Dallas, Texas to study the Bible at Christ for the Nations. After which, he joined the US Navy and served in communications on board the USS Saratoga as "ships company". While aboard the Sara and while stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, he met his only wife, Myra Jean Patrick at a 4Him concert in July of 1991. Patrick walked into the Church that day to volunteer his help to set up for the Christian concert when he spotted Myra, who was also volunteering, playing the drums on stage and singing a song in acapella while waiting for the band to arrive. Without saying a word, Patrick smiled at her, took a seat at the baby grand piano sitting beside the drums, and began putting a melody to her song and drum beat. That's how their journey began together. They flew to wed in Portland on Feb 17, 1992. Patrick was a wonderful, loyal, and a very forgiving husband and Myra's best friend. He was beyond a dream come true for her.
They moved from Jax to NW Florida spending 15 years living and building their lives together. Patrick served on various Praise and Worship teams at churches, singing & playing keyboards or guitar, all by ear. He loved to praise and worship the Lord. In addition, to earn a living, he worked many of those years working on oil rigs, offshore. In 2007, Patrick and Myra relocated back to the Jacksonville area, settling in Middleburg. Patrick became a team leader at a local Chick-fil-A, and became an awesome dad to many four legged kids over the years. At the time of his passing, Patrick leaves behind five dogs, and nine cats, including, His border-collie & velcro dog, Roscoe. Patrick is survived by his wife, Myra, his two sisters, Dixie Sweo and Marie Haslam, his mother-in-law, Norma Hammette, his brother-in-laws, Marvin Patrick and Randy Devlin, his nephews Ken Sweo (Margaret), Jason Devlin, Nathan Haslam, and Jalin Patrick, his nieces, Judy Jones (Scott)and Heather Gomez (Tony), and numerous grand & great nephews and nieces.
